Starting with the screen size, it is clear that the Galaxy S3 is far bigger and boasts better resolution. The only downside is the effect that this has on the weight and size of the phone. The iPhone screen is smaller and has lower screen resolution.
When it comes to cameras, both phones have very equally impressive photo and video capabilities – the only difference being the front cameras, where the Galaxy S3 wins.
The Galaxy S3 has a far more superior battery that can last up to 830 hours on standby and 22 hours talk time compared to the iPhone 5's 225 hours standby and 8 hours talk time.
Connectivity wise, both phones are very similar wirelessly – apart from the lack of NFC (Near Field Communication) on the iPhone 5. They both have equal wired options, the only difference being that the Galaxy S3 uses USB and Micro USB and the iPhone 5 uses Apple Lighting.
Technically, the Galaxy S3 has a much faster CPU speed and twice as many processor cores but equal RAM. Storage wise, the iPhone 5 comes out on top but the Galaxy S3 does have the option of additional card storage which can allow you to add up to an additional 64GB.
Conclusion
Both the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S3 have their strengths and weaknesses, depending on what you intend to use the phone for and your own personal preferences when it comes to size and weight.
If you’re looking for a phone that is quick and easy to use I would recommend the iPhone 5 because of its simple easy-to-use OS and its slim, light and compact design. If you're looking for a phone that can run faster and has an easy customisable interface and don't mind the extra weight and size the Galaxy S3 is ideal for you.
