iPhone 3G, 3GS and iPhone 4 display problems – what to do

Sometimes, mainly because of software problems, the screen of your iPhone can "freeze". That means that the screen won't turn on, although everything will be running in the background: you will hear when someone calls you or you receive a text message, and the iPhone will show up in iTunes when you connect it to the computer. This doesn't mean that your iPhone is faulty or that the screen has a problem; the solution is simple. To fix the blank screen problem of your iPhone you have to reset it. To do so, press and hold the Home button (the round one at the bottom) and the Power button (the top button) for 10 seconds. Sometimes the screen will flash when you do so. Now release both buttons and press the Power button to power up your iPhone – you should see the Apple logo and the phone should boot up fine. Voilà!
