01. How can I tell what model iPhone I have?

In almost all cases, the best way in which you can identify your iPhone model is by the model number starting with and A which you can find on the back housing.





Once you’ve got the model number, check it against the list below or by visiting https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201296.

02. When will I receive payment?

As long as your phone matches the description you gave us, we aim to pay you within one working day of your phone's arrival. In the case of bank transfers, the money will reach your account the same day payment is processed. For payments through PayPal, please allow up to 3 working days for the money to reach your account.


03. What happens if your assessment of the phone is different to mine?

Sometimes there may be an issue you’re not aware of that comes up in our testing. When that happens we’ll let you know immediately via email with a revised offer for you to accept or decline. If you decline it, we’ll post your device back to you free of charge.


04. What types of faults do you not accept?

We do not accept devices that have any of the following faults/conditions:

  • Liquid damage sensors triggered
  • The device does not detect the SIM or is constantly searching for the network
  • faulty touch ID
  • Non UK network locked devices
  • iCloud locked devices
  • Devices locked with a passcode
  • Motherboard faults


05. How do I clear data and accounts off my phone?

Removing your iCloud account is really simple and can be done by either of the two options outlined below. If your device is faulty and you cannot access it, Option 2 is recommended.
Note: these instructions will only remove the device you are selling from your account. Your iCloud account or other devices will not be affected in any other way.

Option 1: (Wi-Fi connection required)
Removing iCloud account via your device

This will also erase all data from your device so please make a back-up using iTunes or iCloud prior to this.

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Select General
  3. Select Reset
  4. Select Erase All Contents And Settings
  5. Enter passcode (if prompted)
  6. Select Erase iPhone
  7. Select Erase iPhone (again)
  8. Enter Apple ID Password (when prompted)
  9. Selec Erase


Your device will switch off and restart. This may take several minutes. Please do not switch device off during reset.

Option 2: (internet connection required)
Removing iCloud account via Desktop PC or Laptop

  1. Turn device OFF
  2. Log in to www.icloud.com with your Apple ID details
  3. Select Find my iPhone
  4. Select your device from All devices
  5. Device pop up box will appear
  6. Select Remove From Account (if you don't see Remove From Account, select All devices again, then click the Remove (x) button on the device.
  7. Select Remove on confirmation message


Device must be switched off, otherwise "Remove from Account" or "Remove (x)" will not appear.

You will also receive a leaflet with instructions on how to erase all Contents and Settings inside our Freepost pack which is received approx. 3 days after having registered your sale.


06. How do I send my phone in?

When registering the sale, you can either opt for our Freepost pack or for your own packaging.
It usually takes 2 or 3 working days for the Freepost pack to get to you. Inside you’ll have a jiffy bag, a plastic bag, the prepaid Royal Mail label and some instructions on how to package the device. Moreover you’ll find a leaflet offering information and guidance on how to erase all you contents and settings from the phone before sending it to us.


07. How do you secure my personal details?

We know people worry about entering their bank details, but you don't need to. We take the security of your details and our site very seriously. Lovefone site uses HTTPS/SSL Security encryption at all stages throughout the site to protect your information. You'll notice the padlock icon appears green in your browser to indicate that your information is being transmitted securely (usually found alongside the address bar). This protects it from interception by unintended recipients.

Please make sure all the details you provide are correct so that payment for your handset goes smoothly. You will be asked to enter the following information during checkout:

  • Your bank details - Sort Code, Account Number & Name of Account Holder
    OR
  • Your PayPal details – email address linked to your PayPal account
  • Note: Payment for your handset can be sent to any nominated UK Bank account, so be careful when entering these details.
  • Your email address for correspondence.
  • Dispatch Details - Your First & Last Name, you will also need to provide an address where we can send the prepaid packaging to send us your handset.
  • Your Mobile Number - We need this is so that we can provide you with updates on their trade-in in a timely way.
  • Please check that all the details are correct before pressing the confirm button.


08. How can I check the status of my phone?

We will keep you regularly updated during the process through email notifications. You’ll be notified when we receive the device and from that point, it will take no longer than 1 working day for us to test it and send you the final price confirmation.
